Impacts in Our Community

Our community will be impacted by these solar panels by three major reasons. First, the panels make our community a healthier place,  second, the panels will save our community money, and third, the solar panels will bring out the environmental culture of Bozeman.
First, the whole Bozeman community will become a healthier, greener place. At the school board meeting on March 28th, 2016, the Martel Construction and A&E architects said "We want to make this school a 21st century environment." What's a better way to make our school 21st century than solar panels?
Second, the panels will save our school and community money. Taxpayers' money will go to learning opportunities rather than paying for the electric bills. If many people donate, the large costs for solar panels would break even right away. We would save money long term, as the school would be a staple in Bozeman for decades to come.
Lastly, your contribution to help with solar panels at SMS is important to help us prepare for the long term growth of Bozeman. Solar panels for a school have about a fifteen year return (that number was estimated by the architects). Fifteen years sounds like a lot of time to the architects, but SMS is a staple in Bozeman and will be around much longer, standing for decades or even a century. It is important this remodel incorporates the best long term options.
