WHY is this project important? Solar Makes Sense will send a message to students, teachers, family, friends, people around our community, and even people around the world that kids need to stand for what they believe in to make a difference, and that kids especially can make our world a better greener place. One small step for us sets an example, which will make a massive difference as bright ideas like this spread.

What is the “vision” statement? What do we want this project to accomplish in the long term and why should I be we passionate about this project? My mission is to get a 50kW solar powered electrical system for SMS, the maximum allowed for our school. My vision is have SMS set an example everywhere, to create a movement among kids to ignite their inner spark and get involved in the conservation of our environment and have kids around the world believe they can make a difference making a better world around us.

What are you trying to achieve? What is your purpose?I also support how the solar will make our school and community a better place, and as this movement spreads, a better world. We need to ignite the spark. It just made sense. With the school's expansion, solar panels should be placed on the roof. I am determined to raise the $300,000, and with your help, I will. The timing for solar panels coincides well with the new remodel that started this past summer so placing the solar panels on the roof now is energy effective. In fact, the roof will now be solar-ready. All that is needed to improve our school with solar electricity is funding, and support from our community.

What is the fundraising monetary goal? $110,000.

How many people will be impacted by this project? More than 800 people a day, plus every new student, parent, friend, and teacher that will visit Sacajawea Middle School in the next several decades, if not longer.

TIMELINE: When should funds be pledged by? I want all funds pledged by the end of the school year, because then Martel Construction will be able to install the panels as soon as the construction of the building has been completed. However, the school is built solar ready, so the timeline can be as long as the eye can see.
